The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi Announces Berklee Abu Dhabi’s Autumn Programme

Whether you’re an aspiring dancer, musician or actor, Berklee Abu Dhabi’s online autumn programme has something for anyone seeking to enhance their creative skills.

On October 4, 2020, Berklee Abu Dhabi, the preeminent institute of contemporary music, dance, and theatre, on Saadiyat Island will launch its new season of online classes, with some of the world’s best instructors offering a wide range of exciting educational experiences for students to learn at home. Additionally, by entering the code “virtual30” when registering, students can avail a 30 percent discount on all the online classes.

The classes will include Harmony and Ear Training, which will teach students the basics of Western musical theory; Digital Music Production, explaining the entire process of making music, including recording, editing, and mixing; Turntable Techniques and DJ Skills, exploring the culture and aesthetics of hip-hop, turntablism, club DJs, and mash-up DJs ; and well as the Essentials of Song-writing, which will help students create song structures, harmonies, melodies, and lyrics that support and enhance their writing skills.
Musicians looking to improve their musical proficiency can sign up for one-on-one private instruction for instruments such as piano, guitar, bass guitar, violin, contemporary oud and qanun.

There are also online classes in various types of dance, including Contemporary Dance, where emphasis will be placed on developing strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, speed, phrasing, and proper alignment; and Musical Theatre Dance, which will focus on using dance as a method of storytelling and the development of performance skills.

Berklee Abu Dhabi’s Berklee Ignite, a tailored programme for the young performing artists and audiences aged seven to 15 to have access to high-quality performing arts experiences, will be presenting its Youth Theatre Programme which will allow participants to rehearse and perform readings of prominent plays from across the world, while the Devised Theatre programme will encourage children to present their personal stories of the COVID-19 pandemic. Students with an interest in acting, costume or stage design, and stage management are welcome to join the programme.
